Check if your business is eligible for the tax bonus

  • Small business
    (annual turnover of less than $2m)
  • Large business
    (annual turnover of $2m or more)
  • Individual
     

You are eligible for the 50% tax bonus on new cars if:

  • 1. You own a tax-paying business with a turnover less than $2 million, and
  • 2. The car is used primarily for business, and
  • 3. You use the ‘one-third of actual expenses’ and ‘log-book’ methods to calculate your tax deduction, or the ‘12% of original value' method.

You are not eligible if you claim your deduction using the ‘cents per kilometre’ method.

The details of how you calculate your tax need to be verified by an accountant or some other authority.
